National Life Chain Sunday will take place this weekend throughout the United States and Canada.

The mission, now in its 30th year, will attempt to focus minds on the at-risk preborn children in each local area and will try to join hearts in prayer for an end to abortion.

The Effingham Life Chain will begin at 1:30pm Sunday in the Sacred Heart Parish Center with a prayer service led by Pastor Tony Munoz. Following the prayer service, the Life Chain will be staged along Keller Drive and Fauette Avenue from 2 to 3pm. At 2:30pm, there will be a moment of silent prayer, and those who are physically able are asked to kneel for five minutes. Signs will be furnished. If standing is a problem, lawn chairs are welcome. At 3pm, refreshments will be served. Donations of cookies would be appreciated. Take them to the Parish Center before the Life Chain begins.

All denominations are invited and urged to participate. For more information, contact Karla Slifer at 217-536-5573.
