Two local residents have entered guilty pleas to counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

The guilty pleas were entered Thursday afternoon in Effingham County Circuit Court by 27-year-old Aaron Wilkey and 34-year-old Dennis Moulton.

While the two entered pleas to the same charge, the charges were filed in separate incidents. Both cases involved sexual actions against girls under age 13.

In both cases, Judge Allan Lolie agreed to a suggested maximum sentence of 30 years. Each defendant without the agreement could have received up to 60 years in prison. The minimum sentence in each case is six years in prison.

Sentencing for Moulton is set for November 9, while sentencing will take place November 13 for Wilkey.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said after the hearings that in both cases, the victims and their families were in agreement with the resolution of the matters without them going to trial, which would have likely required the victims to testify.
