Jasper County board members plan to re-vote on whether to permit ATVs and UTVs on county roads.

A vote in August ended in a tie. However, the vote did not meet the requirements of the state statute. The Board Thursday was read the phone voting requirements.

The full board will now vote again on the proposed ordinance during their October meeting. The Attorney General's office advised the State's Attorney's office to correct the vote that was taken in August, and to amend the County Board policy.

The original ordinance was to take effect in August. If the ordinance passes in October, the start date for implementation of the ordinance can change as long as the original motion is presented again.

Again, the measure would affect county roads in Jasper County; townships would have to consider on an individual basis whether they want to permit ATVs and UTVs on their roads.

Also Thursday, board members got a report on fund balances and tax collection. The final payment was due September 15. The first distribution of property tax revenue has been made.

The Board heard that they will receive a $10,000 grant for power loads for the ambulance service. Also, the Board appointed David Helregel a trustee of the Captain Pond Drainage District, Dwight Sappenfield a trustee of the Mint Creek Drainage District, and Kenneth Ochs a trustee of the Ste. Marie Drainage District. A resolution was approved for work on a bridge in North Muddy Township, and engineering agreements were approved for projects in North Muddy, Wade and Crooked Creek Townships.
