A semi struck a SUV near the I-70 construction zone at Montrose Wednesday.

State police say the semi driver, 52-year-old William Perreault of Pittsburg, Missouri, told them he was unaware of traffic slowing down for construction. Perreault couldn't stop in time and rear-ended a SUV driven by 72-year-old Winifred Brammer of Potosi, Missouri. The crash happened at 12:43pm in the eastbound lanes, about four miles east of Montrose.

Brammer and her passenger, 73-year-old Clarence Brammer of Potosi, Missouri, were both injured and were transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Perreault was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
