A 19-year-old Shelbyville resident is headed for prison after stealing a car.

Donavan Williamson was arrested in November 2016. A Shelbyville resident notified police that her car had been stolen sometime between 3:30pm and 8:18pm. Police dispatch later notified the officer investigating the theft that the vehicle had wrecked after fleeing from a deputy who attempted to stop the driver for a traffic infraction.

Williamson was injured in the crash and was taken for treatment. Once released from treatment, Williamson was arrested on the theft charge.

Shelby County State's Attorney Gina Vonderheide said Williamson has been given a two-year prison term.
