The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education Thursday voted to move ahead with re-roofing work at three district buildings.

The vote was to approve amendments to the District's health and life safety plans, establishing a source of funds to pay for the work once it's awarded.

Assistant Superintendent Jason Fox has shared that replacing the roof at East Side School is Job One and needs undertaken as soon as possible. Fox said close behind that is South Side School, and he said the roof at  West Side School also needs replaced within the next year or two.

Also Thursday, the Unit 40 Board transferred Peggy Manley to a six-hour cook's position at South Side School, and approved leaves for Amber Will and Andrea Kinder.

Board members also expelled a student until the end of the 2018-19 school year and referred the student to an alternative education setting.
