It took some time and a few attempts at a vote, and it still has to pass the Senate, but the Illinois House did approve education funding reforms on Monday.

The votes finally came together to pass compromise education funding bill. The bill moves forward with all schools getting more money.

A contentious part for Democrats was approving the bill that now contains a $75 million tax credit for donations towards private school scholarships.

Minority Leader Jim Durkin says when no one gets their way, then the bill should be seen as a good compromise.

The bill has to pass muster in the Senate, and the Governr will have to add his signature, but Gov. Rauner has indicated he will sign the measure if it remains intact through the Senate.
