Injury Crash East of Effingham Thursday Morning

(ONE OF THE VEHICLES DAMAGED IN THE REAR-END CRASH EAST OF EFFINGHAM THURSDAY MORNING)

Travel was disrupted Thursday morning on Illinois Route 33 east of Effingham by a rear-end car crash.

The crash happened just after 9am at 1650th Street. 

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a minivan driven by 51-year-old Renee Hladek of St. John, Indiana was stopped at the intersection and was rear-ended by a car driven by 19-year-old Allie Mahaffey of Dieterich.

Mahaffey was injured in the crash and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Mahaffey was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
