The Regional Office of Education #3 is offering an informational meeting for potential substitute teachers from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, August 29 at the Effingham Unit #40 Board Room located at 2803 S. Banker St. Effingham, IL 62401.

The session is free of charge and open to anyone interested in learning more about the requirements to become a substitute teacher.

“School districts in our area are struggling to find substitute teachers. They need highly qualified individuals who would like to fill these positions. In an effort to assist our local school districts, we decided to host this free session,” said Julie Wollerman, Regional Superintendent.

Annette Hartlieb, Assistant Regional Superintendent added, “Participants in the session will learn not only the requirements to become a substitute teacher but also the expectations of most schools for their subs. We scheduled this session in hopes of attracting college grads and others who may not have considered this as an option before. As a former elementary school building principal I can testify to the importance of dedicated substitute teachers.”

To register for the session, contact Hartlieb by calling 618-283-9311 or emailing her at ahartlieb@roe3.org. While the session is free, pre-registration is requested.
