The Illinois Senate Sunday voted to override the Governor's amendatory veto of education funding reforms.

Republican Bruce Rauner's plan would have dramatically changed school funding in a few years by taking away dollars from districts that suffer from declining enrollments. It's also becoming a political tool pitting suburban and downstate schools against Chicago Public Schools.

One Republican joined the Democrats in the vote. Now, the House has just over two weeks to consider the plan and see if they have a three-fifths majority to override the Governor.
