Three semis were involved in a crash on I-57 at Edgewood early Wednesday morning.

State police report two rigs were parked on the northbound interstate offramp. Another semi, driven by 53-year-old Timothy Cockrell of Olive Branch, Mississippi, exited the interstate onto the offramp and ran off the ramp to the left. Cockrell lost control of the rig, crossed back over the ramp and struck one of the parked semis, driven by 37-year-old Heather Waingrow of Hiawatha, Iowa. Cockrell's rig left the roadway to the right and went into a ditch. The rig traveled through the ditch and started heading back towards the roadway. The unit came out of the ditch and struck the other parked rig, driven by 45-year-old Ana Arias of El Paso, Texas.

All three drivers were injured and were transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Charges are pending in the crash, which occurred at 2:15am.
