Crash in Front of Y Yard Tuesday Afternoon

Two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon on South US 45 in Heartville. The crash happened at 2:20pm at the intersection with 850th Avenue in front of Y Yard.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Jacob Bushue of Effingham was stopped on the highway, waiting to turn left, when it was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Jerah Lapington of Louisville. The impact knocked Bushue's vehicle into a ditch, causing it to overturn on its side.

Both Bushue and Lapington reported injuries that were not visible, but neither driver was transported by EMS from the scene.

Lapington was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
