Effingham resident Daniel Hoyer has entered a guilty plea to a count of unlawful possession of controlled substance, but sentencing is yet to take place.

The 31-year-old Hoyer was arrested in May. Hoyer was charged in other earlier offenses and a plea agreement was negotiated in all of Hoyer's pending cases.

Hoyer agreed to plead guilty in exchange for a maximum cap of six years in prison on the possession count and a total of eight years in prison on all pending charges.

The sentencing hearing is set for October 5.
