Four people were injured in a SUV crash over the weekend in Jasper County.

The crash happened at 1:10am Sunday in Ste. Marie, on South Main Street just north of Kirts Street.

State police report a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Gary Buerster of Noble was southbound when the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve. The vehicle ran off the east side of the roadway, struck a ditch, then a guide wire, and subsequently overturned up against a power pole. The vehicle came to rest in the ditch, laying on its driver's side. All four occupants were reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The passengers in the vehicle were 39-year-old Julie Giddens of Flora, 50-year-old Ellen Bollman of Dundas, and 35-year-old Nicholas Beverlin of Willow Hill.

Buerster and the three passengers were taken to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney and Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.

Buerster was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, improper lane usage and failure to wear a seat belt. Giddens, Bollman and Beverlin were each cited for not wearing a seat belt and illegal transportation of alcohol.
