State Crop Report for Week Ending July 2

Field work continued over the past week in Illinois with rains in some parts of the state.

There were 5.8 days suitable for field work during the week ending July 2. Statewide, the average temperature was 70.6 degrees, 3.8 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.68 inches, 0.30 inches below normal. 

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 3% very short, 25% short, 69% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2% very short, 18% short, 77% adequate, and 3% surplus.

Corn silking reached 12%, compared to 21% for the five-year average. Corn condition was rated at 2% very poor, 6% poor, 27% fair, 52% good, and 13% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 15%, compared with 16% last year. Soybean condition was rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 22% fair, 59% good, and 11% excellent.

Winter wheat harvest was 90% complete, compared to the five-year average of 72%.

Pasture and range condition was rated at 3% poor, 28% fair, 56% good, and 13% excellent.
