Two Altamont Residents Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Two Altamont residents were injured in a motorcycle crash Monday morning in Jackson Township.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies say 21-year-old Keaton Strickler and 19-year-old Samantha Marquardt were injured when Strickler lost control of the cycle he was operating and it crashed in the roadway.

The crash happened at 10:16am on 920th Road, a quarter-mile north of 675th Avenue, a rural area west of Watson.

Strickler was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, while Marquardt was taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Deputies cited Strickler for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
