South Central School Board Meeting Held

After the Board approved the Minutes, bills, payroll and the treasurer’s report, board members heard an update on the Construction project at South Central High School. The project has passed the 50% completion point and Phase 1 is still on schedule which included the 6 new classroom wing on West side of the building, the Cafeteria Addition, and the Band-Chorus Room, Stage area to be ready for the August 23rd start of school next year.

The Board heard an update from the Governor’s Office and the CDB funding Board that as of July 1st, 2017 all Capital Development Funds will be put on hold if the State of Illinois does not pass a budget where money is appropriated for CDB projects by June 30, 2017. South Central has already passed the 50% completion point and should receive payment in advance of the July 1st shutdown of funds being dispersed since the 50% completion pay application was filed previously in early June. South Central will have the 10% funding amount to collect from the State after July 1st.

The Board approved the amended budget for the 2016-2017 school year and the IASB Renewal for the 2017-2018 School Year.

The Board approved Option 3 to change the Athletic Policy to allow coaches discretion to have tryouts if the Guidelines in Option 3 are followed with Administrative Approval. This would allow a Tryout Process if the number of participants is 16 or more, with the exception of 5th-6th Grade basketball teams. This will be effective for the 2017-2018 Sports Seasons.

The Board accepted the resignation of Lucas Krutsinger as a Certified Staff Member and Head Basketball Coach for SCMS effective the end of the school year 2016-2017.

The Board approved raises for Certified Teaching Staff, Support Staff Personnel, Non-Union Support Staff Personnel, and District Administrators for the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 School Years per Salary Sheet Proposals as presented.

The Board ratified the 3 year contract between the South Central School Board of Education and the South Central Education Association for school years 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020.

The Board ratified the 3 year contract between the South Central School Board of Education and the South Central Federation of Support Staff Personnel Local #6393, IFT-AFT, AFL-CIO for school years 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020.

The Next Board Meeting is scheduled for July 19, 2017.
