A 23-year-old Memphis, Tennessee man is being held in the Marion County Jail on multiple charges after allegedly being found asleep in the Centralia Amtrak station with an AK47 Assault Rifle across his lap.

Major Vaughn was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm with an invalid FOID card, and disorderly conduct.

Centralia Police say they received a 911 call on Friday night alerting them to a man sitting against a wall of the train station with the gun. When police arrived, they confirmed the situation by looking in the windows. However, Vaughn appeared to have fallen asleep and police had moved into the train station before he awoke. At that point he was ordered to take his hands off the gun and put them in the air. Vaughn reportedly complied and an officer kicked the gun away.

Vaughn said he had an active carry permit in Tennessee and didn't realize he couldn't carry the gun in Illinois. Centralia Police told Vaughn he should have learned in any training class the rules concerning carrying weapons out of state. It is also illegal in Illinois to carry any weapon in a mass transit building.

Police say the gun had a fully loaded 30 round magazine.
