Strong winds contained in a line of storms ushering in a cold front knocked out power to several thousand, downed multiple trees and power lines, and caused building damage early Sunday morning.

Lots of damage was reported in the village of St. Peter as the St. Peter Lutheran Church was hit by a large tree. One of the large grain bins at the elevator caved in and and the radio antenna on the Southcentral FS Building was flattened. Other damage was reported throughout St. Peter and a number of power lines along Route 185 to Farina were destroyed.

Kinmundy, Alma, and Vandalia also reported numerous trees and power lines down. A semi travelling south on Interstate 57 just north of Edgewood was also blown onto its side into the median by a strong gust of wind during the storm.

Ameren Electric and Southwestern Electric crews were out restoring power since shortly after the storm moved through around three Sunday morning that left 1000s throughout a large area without power.
