A Farina man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to a count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under age 13.

52-year-old Larry L. Sapp faced three counts of the Class X felony offense; he pled guilty to one charge in exchange for the other counts being dismissed. Sapp was sentenced Friday to 11-1/2 years in prison; he could have received up to 30 years and as little as six years.

Sapp had been charged with three counts, as prosecutors alleged three separate acts against the same victim.

In addition to the prison time, Sapp must register as a sex offender for life, will serve three years to life of mandatory supervised release once out of prison, and must pay fines and costs.
