Local Man Arrested on Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault Charge

A local man has been arrested on a count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Effingham City Police arrested 27-year-old Aaron Nelson Wilkey of Effingham on Friday.

Wilkey was being held in Effingham County Jail at last report.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said Wilkey is accused of improper actions against an eight-year-old family member on multiple occasions since October of 2016.

Bond for Wilkey has been set at $250,000 and he was ordered to have no contact with anyone under age 18. Wilkey will be represented by the public defender. He is next due in court the morning of June 8.
