Wild Ride Results in Injuries for a Missouri Man

State Police report at 5:30am Friday morning a semi driven James D. Donaldson, 47 of St. Charles Missouri, was traveling east on I-70 at mile post 88 four miles east of Effingham when he fell asleep leaving the north side of the roadway crossing the median and entering the I-70 westbound lanes of traffic. The semi traveled east in the west bound lanes of I-70 crossing under an overpass for Effingham County Road 800 East before leaving the south side of the roadway returning to the median. The semi then crossed the east bound lanes of traffic exiting the south side of the roadway crossing the ditch, striking the cable fence and coming to a rest in a corn field.

Donaldson was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

James Doanaldson was also charged with improper lane usage, driving while fatigued, DUI, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
