Effingham Women Among Several Injured in 3 Vehicle Crash

State Police report at 9:28pm Sunday night a 3 vehicle crash occured on Interstate 57 approximatley 7 miles north of Salem in Marion county. 
 
The preliminary investigation indicates that an suv driven by Micheal Medina, 53, of Brookfield, struck a deer in the middle of the roadway. A car driven by Jill Edwards, 30, of Braidwood, did stop in time to avoid striking the rear of the Medina vehicle, but was unable to avoid striking the deer. 
 
The third vehicle, an suv driven by Cindy Rae Hamilton, 32, of Effingham, was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Edwards car.
 
Micheal Medina and his passengers which included an 11 and a 5 year old as well as Tina Fonck, 51, all of Braidwood were transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital for treatment.  Kristi Duckwitz, 30, of Effingham, a passenger of Hamilton was also transported to Salem Hospital for treatment by Ambulance.
 
Charges are pending as the accident is still under investigation.
