Here's a look at Memorial Day ceremonies we know are scheduled in the area this weekend:

Three ceremonies will take place in Effingham on Monday.

Effingham VFW Post #1769 will hold a ceremony at the gravesite of the Post's namesake, Theodore Hoffman, at 9am at St. Anthony Cemetery.

The scene will then shift to the Veterans Memorial at Oakridge Cemetery at 10:30am. Gary Buehnerkemper will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The guest speaker will be Iraq War veteran Stephanie Zinser. VFW Post #1769 is the host organization.

The final ceremony in Effingham Monday will immediately follow the Oakridge ceremony and will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery with the same MC and speaker.

VFW Post #1769, American Legion Post #120 and DAV Chapter #7 will be in attendance to serve as a color guard at the Effingham Performance Center at 3pm Monday for the annual Memorial Day Tribute sponsored by 3 Chicks and a Stage and the EPC.

There are other ceremonies planned in the area this weekend.

A ceremony is scheduled Saturday at 8:30am at Watson Cemetery, and Sunday at 9am at St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis.

Additionally, Wilbur Braughton American Legion Post #611 will conduct a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday at 1pm at the Stewardson Cemetery. The speaker will be Pastor Weaver from Trinity Lutheran Church of Stewardson.

The Wilbur Braughton Post will also be placing flags on the graves of all veterans today at 4pm at Stewardson, Mound, Spain, Rincker and Wolf Creek cemeteries.
