A Charleston teenager was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving her car and a dump truck on Lerna Road.

16-year-old Jordan Holly was fatally injured in the crash that occurred at 1:36pm at the intersection with Old State Road. She was a student at Charleston High School. Her mother is principal at Carl Sandburg Elementary School in Charleston and her father is a professor at Eastern.

A six-year-old girl who was riding with Holly was injured in the crash and was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment.

The driver of the dump truck, 62-year-old Michael Chaney of rural Toledo, was not injured.

Coles County Sheriff's Department reports the car failed to yield to the dump truck. An investigation is ongoing.
