Effingham resident Kevin Frutiger has been sentenced to three years in prison for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The case was filed in Clay County Circuit Court, where Frutiger was charged in December.

In February, the 28-year-old Frutiger agreed to plead guilty in exchange for a prosecution pledge that they would seek a sentence of not more than five years in prison.

Frutiger was also ordered to undergo sex offender education and mental health programs. He will also be on mandatory supervised release for two years once out of prison.
