A number of businesses and individuals don't have as much paperwork and as many documents laying around after First National Bank of Waterloo in Effingham conducted a free Community Shred Day. The event was held Saturday on the City Hall parking lot in conjunction with the Effingham Artisan Fair.

The event also was tied to the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce's 100 Acts of Service project related to the Effingham County Chamber's centennial celebration this year.

A number of individuals also stopped by with canned goods, non-perishable items and cash donations. The collected donations will go to Crisis Nursery of Effingham County.

The effort kept over 3,800 pounds of paper out of the landfill.
