Effingham city police are investigating a burglary at Hibbett Sports.

The Effingham Crimestoppers Facebook page features photos of a suspect vehicle believed used in the burglary at approximately 2:44am Tuesday. Four individuals are seen in surveillance video exiting the vehicle and entering the business. The vehicle appears to be a white or light colored SUV type vehicle.

Effingham Police Chief Jeffrey Fuesting said the suspects used an object to break a window to gain entrance to the store, which was closed for the night. An alarm alerted police who were on scene within a minute. The suspects, though, had left the scene. Merchandise was stolen from the business. The dollar value is yet to be determined. Detectives are canvassing the area in an attempt to turn up more information about the incident.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident is asked to contact Detective Aaron Lange or Detective Sergeant Todd Ebbert in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations at the Effingham Police Department at 347-0771 or Effingham Crimestoppers. Fuesting said a reward is being offered for information that could lead to an arrest of those involved in the breakin.
