Country singing star Rodney Atkins will headline the 2017 Effingham County Fair at Altamont.

Atkins will perform on Friday, August 11 in front of the grandstand. His performance was announced in conjunction with information on an upgraded fair website and new ease of ordering tickets.

In fact, the new website, www.effinghamcountyfair.com, will allow fairgoers to take care of their entries in various competitions, purchase tickets for all of the events at this year's fair, and obtain information about whatever is going on at this year's fair.

The fair will run from Saturday through Saturday, August 5-12.

Atkins is known for a number of country hits, including "Watching You", "Cleaning This Gun", "Take a Back Road", "He's Mine", "These Are My People", "If You're Going Through Hell", "Fifteen Minutes", and "Farmer's Daughter". Regional favorite Bill Poss will serve as the opener for Rodney Atkins.

The fair will see the country headliner back on Friday night and the rodeo on Thursday night. The other evening entertainment is unchanged, including pulling action on Monday and Wednesday, the Talent Show and Junior Miss Pageant on Sunday, the Queen and Little Miss Pageant on Tuesday, and the Demolition Derby on Saturday, the 12th.
