Friday was Kelsey Tonn Day in Effingham.

Kelsey, an employee at Probst Auto Body in Dieterich, received the honor after being announced as the 2017 Employee of the Year at Friday's Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Employee Appreciation Luncheon.

Mayor Pro-Tem Merv Gillenwater, pinch-hitting for Mayor Jeff Bloemker, signed the proclamation designating the special day. The honoree's husband and daughter were on hand for the announcement, along with members of the Probst team.

The other nominees including our own Millie Lange, who handles front end duties as well as the posting of local sports online and commercial writing, as well as Pat Atwood of Dan Hecht Chevrolet/Toyota, who is marking 35 years with the dealership.

The guest speaker was Lisa Teichmiller, who focused on Celebrating the Intrapreneurs of Effingham County. Teichmiller pointed out that companies need intrapreneurs, those who might never start their own firm with an entrepreneurial spirit, but will work to make the place where they are employed better. She encouraged creativity and idea sharing and asked employers to allow employees the space to dream and be a "solution driver".

This was the 43rd Annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon in Effingham.
