The Stewardson-Strasburg school board Wednesday approved a three-year contract agreement with district teachers.

The agreement includes an average 2.53% increase including steps on the salary schedule for the coming school year, a 2.77% average increase the second year, and a 2.5% average increase the third year.

The Board also accepted the resignations of Cody McCollum as boys varsity basketball coach and Quinn Bennett as boys varsity assistant basketball coach. McCollum will remain a teacher in the Stew-Stras district. The Board also rehired Mariah Bolin as girls varsity basketball coach, and agreed to seek an assistant girls coach.

The Board hired Jacob Haegan as head junior high track coach and Courtney Wittenberg as assistant junior high track coach, and hired Cinda Held as junior high Scholar Bowl coach.

The Board accepted the resignation of teacher William Little, effective immediately.

Also Wednesday, Stew-Stras Superintendent Michele Lindenmeyer told Board members that the State is taking no action to make Preschool for All Grants available to interested districts, unless those districts are already receiving the grant funds. Lindenmeyer said another opportunity might present itself this summer and said she'd be monitoring the situation.

Board members approved changes to the student handbook for the coming school year regarding Honor Roll and regarding cell phones and students.

The Board also seated the members elected earlier this month and then chose officers for the next term. The current officers will remain in place; Chad Smith as president, Bob Schlechte as vice president, and Allison Vonderheide as secretary.
