Margie Borries of Prime Sole said the suspects left the store without paying for the merchandise. The alarm was triggered when they went outside. Store personnel went outside to confront the suspects and Effingham Police Chief Jeff Fuesting said one of the suspects fired one shot at the building. The suspects then fled.

Chief Fuesting said the incident was reported at 1:47pm. He said the suspect vehicle is a newer model silver Hyundai Santa Fe with Kansas plates, no numbers yet.

One suspect is a black male, dark complected with short hair in his mid 20s wearing a royal blue Kansas City Royals jacket. The other suspect, believed to be the man who fired the shot, is a black male with dark complexion and long dreadlocks wearing a white T-shirt. He is still believed to be armed with the small caliber handgun that he fired at the store.

Police have recovered the shell casing of the round fired at the store.

The car left the Prime Sole lot and headed east on Avenue of Mid America. Police are trying to determine the suspects' direction of travel once they reached Keller Drive, but state police throughout the region were notified of the incident and other pertinent information.
