Effingham Man Pleads Guilty to Domestic Battery

An Effingham man pleaded guilty Monday to a count of domestic battery in exchange for a three-year prison sentence.

38-year-old Jeremy Pontious had been arrested last summer on counts of alleged actions against his ex-wife. He had also been arrested in December on a count of cyberstalking.

The cyberstalking count was dismissed as part of the plea. 

Pontious' trial was slated to start Monday.
