Jasper County 2017 Election Results

There were a few contested races in Jasper County on Tuesday.

In the City of Newton Ward 1 Alderman race, Scott Bloomberg defeated Larry Short, 89 to 70.

In the Ste. Marie Village President, Village Clerk and Village Trustee races, the candidates were all write-ins, so the results are not yet known.

In the Willow Hill village trustee race, Craig Pritchard, Randy Smith and Karen Booker were elected with 43, 39 and 36 votes, respectively. Karen Rardin got 26 votes and Bruce Eubank got 24 votes.

In the Hunt City Township Supervisor race, William Michl defeated Nick McDonald, 76 to 44.

In the Hunt City Township Road Commissioner race, Robert Alexander defeated Keith Matson, 90 to 32.

In the Smallwood Township trustee race, Paul Will, Daniel Stark, Nicholas Milliman and David Kistner were elected with 116, 100, 95 and 87 votes, respectively. Raymond Kuhl got 59 votes and Frederick Kuhl got 52 votes.

In the Willow Hill Township Road Commissioner race, John Ferguson defeated Nick Wilson, 101 to 81.

In the Willow Hill Township trustee race, John Leffler, Ralph Hume, Larry Brinson and Greg McCoy were elected with 128, 124, 124 and 122 votes, respectively. Caleb Wartsbaugh got 71 votes.

In the Jasper Unit 1 school board race, Gordon Millsap, Holly Farley and Mandy Rieman were elected with 941, 923 and 867 votes, respectively. Joshua Kuhl got 772 votes.

In the City of Newton public question on whether the mayor, clerk and trustees should be elected in non-partisan elections and only run in non-partisan primary elections when required by statute, the vote was 281 Yes to 74 No.
