A St. Elmo woman was injured Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash.

The crash happened just after 3:30pm on the St. Elmo Blacktop, a half-mile north of St. James in Fayette County.

State police say a car driven by 70-year-old Connie Ervin of St. Elmo was traveling north when the car drove ino the gravel on the left side of the roadway, swerving back onto the road and then slid back off into the left ditch where it overturned, landing on its passenger side.

Ervin had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Ervin was cited for improper lane usage.
