North Clay school district officials made a presentation to the Louisville Village Board Thursday evening regarding the village's proposed creation of a Tax Increment Financing district.

Increases in tax revenues generated in a TIF District must be used for improvements in the district.  That has school officials worried, since they are already dealing with a $300,000 reduction in General State Aid and a proposed shift of pension costs from the State to local school districts, which would cost the North Clay district another $280,000.

School officials pointed out those issues to the village board.

Once back at the school district office, the school board adopted a proposed tax levy for the coming fiscal year, with final action expected at the December meeting.  The Board also tabled the proposed seeking of bids for a new propane-powered school bus, since grant funds might be available to pay for the bus.  The Board did renew property and casualty insurance coverage with North Wayne Insurance Company.

In personnel action, the North Clay Board accepted a resignation from Tim Mills as high school volleyball coach and junior high assistant volleyball coach, and approved a motion to advertise for a trainee for the positions of executive administrative assistant to the superintendent and district bookkeeper due to upcoming retirements.
