An Effingham resident has pleaded guilty to a count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for improperly touching a 12-year-old girl.

30-year-old Marco Antonio Perez Alamillo admitted to drinking alcohol, then coming home from work and getting into the bed where the girl was sleeping and making improper contact. When the incident occurred, the girl got out of the bed and went home.

The girl had babysat for the defendant and his ex-wife. As the defendant worked late hours, the girl sometimes stayed at the home overnight.

The case was filed in 2014, but was delayed due to complications over DNA findings. Perez Alamillo has spent 323 days in jail.

Perez Alamillo was sentenced to four years in prison, but day-for-day credit will apply, so that will lessen his time in prison.

There is also indication Perez Alamillo is undocumented, so deportation is a possibility.

The defendant was originally also charged with a Class X felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault, but that count was dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea to the lesser charge.
