An Effingham man charged in Coles County with public indecency pled guilty Monday and was given prison time.

33-year-old Easton Shue faced four counts of public indecency for incidents at or near Cross County Mall in Mattoon during 2016. Shue was sentenced to five-year prison terms on two of the counts and 30 months probation on the other two counts. The sentence includes counseling and fines and court costs.

As part of the plea agreement, a similar count of public indecency in Effingham County will be dismissed.

Shue will be required to register as a sex offender as part of his Coles County sentence.

Shue's attorney, Scott Ealy, issued a statement following the sentencing hearing: "My client has accepted responsibility for his conduct and has been reaching out for help. Easton understands and regrets that his actions have been disturbing to others. He has resolved to follow the Court's treatment orders."
