Effingham Woman Arrested on Numerous Drug Charges

An Effingham woman has been arrested on a series of drug charges.

34-year-old Lyndsey Walk was arrested Saturday by Effingham City Police on counts including possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance that being a psilocybin or "mushroom", possession of other controlled substance, manufacture or delivery of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis, possession of 100 to 500 grams of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as endangering the life or health of a child.

Walk was being held in Effingham County Jail at last report.

Walk was in court Monday morning, as was a co-defendant, 19-year-old Christopher Howland of Effingham. Walk has been formally charged with possession of less than five grams of meth as well as possession of 100 to 500 grams of cannabis. Howland was charged with possession of under five grams of meth. The meth possession count facing each defendant is punishable by up to two to five years in prison. The cannabis possession count is punishable by up to one to three years in prison.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said city police were notified of a complaint that Walk was doing "hard drugs" while a small child was in her care. Kibler said an officer went to the residence and saw through a window evidence that Walk and Howland were engaged in drug use. Police obtained consent to search the residence and the drugs were found. Kibler said a search of the residence turned up eight different controlled substances in addition to the meth and marijuana. The marijuana count facing Walk alleges 110 grams of the substance were found in the residence.

Walk is the mother of the four-year-old child found in the residence.

Walk and Howland are to make their first court appearances with counsel on March 29.
