Joshua Morrison was elected State's Attorney in Fayette County Tuesday.

Republican Morrison defeated Democrat Matt Chancey, 4562 to 2926 in the battle to see who would succeed Stephen Friedel.  Friedel did not seek re-election to instead run as Resident Circuit Judge in Shelby County.

Republican Kathy Emerick defeated Democrat Mary Sue Ruot for Circuit Clerk, 4194 to 3412.

Republican incumbent Bruce Bowen was unopposed for another term as County Coroner, receiving 6756 votes.

There was one contested race on the Fayette County Board in District 6, where there were three candidates for two seats.  Republican Glenn Gurtner with 620 votes and Democrat Joe Kelly with 545 votes were elected, while Republican Bryce Kistler received 517 votes.

One public question on the Fayette County ballot Tuesday was defeated.  A question about a portion of the county joining the Mulberry Grove Fire Protection District and assuming a proportionate share of bonded indebtedness, if any, received 164 votes for joining, but 190 votes against joining.
