Darin Deters Earns Promotion w/Sheriff's Department

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has announced the recent promotion of Detective Darin Deters to the position of Detective Corporal.

In this new position, Corporal Deters will act as supervisor for the Investigations Section for the Sheriff's Office. He will coordinate activities of the detectives and manage and maintain control over the evidence vault.

Deters has been employed at the Sheriff's Office since March 2002 when he was hired as a part-time Correctional Officer. He was moved to full-time status a year later. In February 2007, Deters was hired as a full-time Deputy Sheriff. In September 2013, he was assigned duties as a detective.

Corporal Deters is a graduate of Teutopolis High School and Lake Land College in Mattoon. He is a 2004 graduate of St. Clair County Correctional Academy and a 2007 graduate of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute's Basic Law Enforcement Academy.

Darin Deters resides in the city of Effingham.
