Jasper School Board Approves 2017-18 Calendar

Jasper school board members have finalized the calendar for the 2017-18 school year.

The school year will begin on Tuesday, August 15 with a Teacher's Institute and end on Thursday, May 24, 2018 with a Teacher's Institute. Five snow days are built into the calendar.

The Board agreed to bid out all of the district's insurance coverages. Proposals will be due to the District office by May 23. It was also agreed to advertise for a high school guidance counselor who would begin with the start of the 2017-18 school year.

Board members heard from Jamie Judson on starting a youth wrestling club at no cost to the school district.

The Board also approved Jake Volk as a volunteer high school girls track hurdles coach, and approved Gina Volk as a half-time CEO teacher and a half-time Consumer Science teacher beginning with the 2017-18 school year.
