Altamont school board members Monday discussed home schooled students participating in IESA activities.

District resident Nathan Scholes spoke to the Board regarding participation by home schooled students.

There was no decision by the Board.

The Altamont board heard that the greenhouse at the high school is operational. Students planted and set out the first group of plants earlier this month, once repairs were completed on the building.

Altamont Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch reported on a meeting of a support committee for the County Facilities Tax question to appear on the April ballot. Four committees are being organized: overall campaign chairs, communications, canvassing, and community outreach.

Board members approved membership with Illinois Virtual Schools, and heard a presentation from GRP Mechanical regarding health/life safety work and playground renovation at Altamont Grade School.

The Board adopted the 2017-18 school calendar, accepted the resignations of Amanda Tonn and Monica Harshman, approved volunteer high school girls softball coaches John Ledbetter and Doug Winters, approved high school commencement for 7pm on Saturday, May 20, and approved intergovernmental agreements for Regional Office of Education Regional Safe Schools and Regional Alternative High Schools.
