Dieterich school board members have approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Dieterich regarding the village's Tax Increment Financing District.

The agreement will allow for an annual payment from the TIF District to the school district. The payment will be $15,000, for the life of the original Dieterich TIF District. Such intergovernmental agreements are in lieu of tax dollars that might typically go to the school district if the TIF District was not in existence.

The Dieterich board approved intergovernmental agreements with the Regional Office of Education for the 2017-18 school year. It will allow the district to utilize the Aspire and Tri-Star alternative schools. The Board also approved the 2017-18 school calendar. The calendar will begin with Teacher Institute on August 16, with the first day of student attendance on Thursday, August 17.

Dieterich board members renewed one-year contracts with Elementary Principal Kathy Pattenaude and Junior-Senior High School Principal Kevin Haarman for the 2017-18 school year, and set a tentative graduation date of Saturday, May 13 at 4pm.

The Board heard that the District earned a financial rating of 3.55, which puts the Dieterich district in the "financial recognition" category, the highest rated category. Also approved was the purchase of a 71-passenger bus for $82,900, and a change for the start time of board meetings to 6:15pm for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year. The meetings had been starting at 6pm.
