Two Injured in Weekend Crash at Keller and Evergreen

Two people were injured in a weekend crash at Keller Drive and Evergreen Avenue.

The crash occurred at 7:50pm Friday.

Effingham City Police report a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Ashley Lakin of Brownstown rear-ended a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Lawrence Sparks, Jr. of Newton. Sparks and a passenger in Sparks' vehicle, 51-year-old Sherri Terry of Newton, were injured. Sparks refused treatment, but Terry was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Lakin was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

City police are also investigating a residential burglary at an apartment in the 100 block of Hendelmeyer Avenue. The break-in occurred sometime between 7:30pm Saturday and 4pm Sunday.

At this time, no items have been reported stolen.
