Two people are in the hospital following a Wednesday night crash in Jasper County.

State police say the crash occurred at 7:37pm in a rural part of the county along 400th Avenue.

A vehicle driven by 37-year-old Wayne Belford of Oblong was eastbound when Belford ramped the levy along the roadway. The vehicle went airborne and Belford lost control of the unit. The vehicle went into a skid, ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and then several small trees and shrubs, and then rolled multiple times in a field along the south side of the roadway.

A passenger, 31-year-old Nicole Belford of Oblong, was thrown from the vehicle and was found about 15 yards from the unit.

Nicole Belford was injured as was another passenger, 38-year-old Lisa Ann Allen of Oblong. Nicole Belford was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, while Allen was flown to Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Wayne Belford was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, improper lane usage, aggravated reckless driving, and DUI alcohol.
