Symposium Scheduled on Mandated Reporting of Abuse and Neglect

A symposium, "Mandated Reporting: Abuse and Neglect of Children, Older Adults and Persons w/Disabilities", is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1 at the Effingham Knights of Columbus Building. The event will run from 9am to 3:30pm.

The training is open to professionals who address abuse and neglect of children, older adults and persons with disabilities, as well as anyone else interested in helping solve the problems of child abuse and domestic violence.

Questions to be addressed include What is Considered Child Abuse or Neglect, Do You Know When to Call the DCFS Hotline? Have You Ever Wondered What Happens After You Make the Call? Who Should You Contact Concerning Abuse of Older Adults and Persons With Disabilities? In a Home Setting or in a Facility? What Are Your Rights as a Mandated Reporter?

The 4th Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council, chaired by local judge James Eder, is sponsoring the symposium.

The registration fee is $25 for the whole day and $20 for a half day. Both fees included a catered lunch. Professional development hours can be earned.
