A 19-year-old Edgewood man has been arrested on multiple charges after leading Kinmundy Police on a chase that reached 100 miles per hour.

Michael Whipple is being held in the Marion County Jail for driving on a revoked license, aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving an uninsured vehicle, having expired registration, unlawful use of registration, along with speeding and other traffic charges.

Kinmundy Police say the chase began after they attempted to stop Whipple's pickup on Route 37 at the Kinoka Road after they had clocked him speeding on West 1st Street. Instead of stopping, Whipple allegedly fled on the Kinoka Road, north on Interstate 57 to the Farina exit, and then east on Route 185 to Route 37. Whipple then headed north on Route 37, but lost control at the Altamont Road intersection where the truck spun out into the roadside ditch.

Whipple was out of the truck when Kinmundy Police arrived. He was taken into custody without incident. A passenger was released without being charged.

Whipple told police he fled because he knew his drivers license was revoked.

Kinmundy Police were assisted by Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies.
