Teutopolis school board members Thursday voted to place the 1% countywide sales tax question on the April ballot. That means all five school boards in Effingham County voted to put the question on the ballot.

If passed by the voters in April, a 1% sales tax would be imposed throughout the county with the proceeds going toward new construction or renovation of existing school buildings.

The Board also discussed morning transportation options, including an additional morning bus route, but no decisions were made. The matter will be on the February agenda for a vote.

Board members set a $400/day limit on what a board member, administrator or staff member can spend; reviewed a tentative calendar for next school year with a vote to come at a later meeting; and approved the resignation of Susan Yallaly as district media specialist at the end of the school year.

The Board also heard from members of the Effingham County CEO class on the upcoming CEO Experience in February.
