Portion of 3rd Street in Effingham to be Closed

Third Street from Fayette Ave. to National Ave. in Effingham will be closed to through traffic beginning on Monday, January 16 for approximately 3 weeks to replace a sanitary sewer.

Access to the residences and businesses will be maintained utilizing the alleys between Third St. and Fourth St. and between Third St. and Second St. As the work progresses, one alley will be closed at a time when crossing with the sewer with the other alley remaining open.

On Monday, January 16, crews will be constructing sewer and setting manholes across Third St. between 310 and 311 S. Third St. 

The remainder of the week will involve constructing the sewer and setting manholes on Third St. towards National Ave.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution if traveling in the work zone.
